I want to shout out Victor for proposing the 30th CMWC returning to NYC. In a time of uncertainty, let’s join together and celebrate this profession and each other. Amirite!

I was there. The First One, 2000 AD.
It was (Johnny) Snake’s idea. For his birthday. He wanted to challenge the community. The toughest weather, mean streets of NYC. Fixed Gear/No Brakes. This wild style was popular with a certain amount of Maniacs. Everybody liked to talk sh*t about who was the best and now it was time to put your money where your mouth was. Vlad made the flyer, sitting at the bar at Sophie’s on E5th St.
Footage from the First Monster Track featured in Peter Sutherland’s PEDAL ^
We didn’t realize at the time but Monster Track would grow to symbolize the USA’s urban bike explosion. We were the outlaws, the risk takers. Our community was doing it for fun and glory, excited that other freaks would travel far and wide to be a part of the magic.
Greg Ugalde’s iconic flyer art would set this event apart from all other street races. Capturing the magical spirit, the danger and the rush!
Did I mention I won Monster Track 4? Well let me just make sure you know haha.
Every Year the kids keep coming and it’s the biggest underground street racing event in the world alongside Cranksgiving
This Year is the 23rd edition hosted by Crihs
Hope to See You!!!
